The Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling is a nonprofit organization whose Core Values are:
The Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling is dedicated to increasing public awareness of problem gambling, expanding the availability of services for those affected by problem gambling, and supporting research and programs for education, prevention, treatment, and responsible gambling.
Problem gambling is a real disorder‐‐similar to alcohol, drug, or sexual addictions. Fortunately, most people can enjoy recreational gambling responsibly. For some, that becomes impossible. While it may be a small percentage of our population, when you or someone you love has a gambling addiction, it is not a small problem. Broken marriages, bankruptcy, depression, and even suicide can result. And, very often, people affected by problem gambling are also affected by other problems and issues such as other addictions, physical health problems, spiritual and emotional issues, and even domestic violence or legal issues.
Support and Services
The Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling strives to provide support and services, such as the statewide Helpline number (800.547.6133). The toll‐free, confidential Problem Gambling Helpline provides information about problem gambling and referrals to professional treatment and support programs. The Helpline can be reached via phone, text, or chat.
The Council offers support for residential treatment for problem gamblers and outpatient treatment for problem gamblers and family members. In addition, the Council provides education and public awareness programs to a wide variety of community and professional groups through presentations, including qualified training for certification and continuing education hours. The Council works with the Gaming Industry to provide employee training and responsible gaming policy and program development and offers a Responsible Gaming Certification program. In 2019, ECPG became the Northwest Collaborative representative for the Center for Addiction Recovery Training, offering the full curriculum of Recovery Coach Trainings.
The Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling is pleased to work with schools and youth groups, educators and PTAs, civic and social service organizations, and others to develop and tailor education and awareness programs to meet your needs.
